Everything leaves a sign, visible or not.
The sign of the poison ivy that marks the surface on which it grows: the surprise to see it in its full red doesn’t fade.
Even the farthest event in the past, the Big Bang, maintains a perceivable residue of radiation.
Things happening afar reach us, making what has happened a long time ago visible to us, as happens with the stars and their light.
Past and present coexist, physically and psychologically; we relate to our past experiences to deal with the present.
Everyone of us carries along the signs of our own past.
The dam, a structural element, safeguards and limits the water it contains. The relationship that links the dam and the water is ascribed to the effect of the dam on the mass of water.
Instead, I wanted to underline the connection between the water and the dam, what water could give to the artificial structure, the meeting point.
The Sun, neutral element that shines on everything, indiscriminately, was however absorbed with different effects by the dam and by the water.
The dam absorbs light as a wall, while the water, as a lens, amplifies the luminous wave, reflecting and giving back light on the surrounding surface, refracting its wavelets on the dam’s wall, right above the “line”.
Heat and light are emanated in a way that unifies liquid wave and light wave, giving to the cement structure anaesthetic that, in that moment surpasses the element from which it had originated: the water basin.
In that moment the water and its reflection coexist, connecting present and future.
I’d like to replicate the effect of calling towards the future of the element that today isn’t present in the way that most surprised and gave emotion at the sight.

Site specific installation:
6 adjustable plexiglass  tanks filled with water, lifted up from the ground through a scaffolding pipe structure, installed at the base of the friulian slope of the dam. At the edge of the tanks there will be an adjustable mirror sheet, to get the effect of reflection provoked by the sunlight hitting the water.

The tanks will function as a lens too, to amplify the luminous effect, while the height of the reflection will be changeable in-loco, as well as being able to mask the natural source of light from the Sun without touching the actual structure of the dam (by means of a “theatrical light” trick).

Tutto lascia un segno visibile o invisibile.
Il segno dell’edera crescendo marca la superficie a cui si aggrappa: rimane indelebile lo stupore nel vederla, nel pieno del suo rosso.
Anche il più distante degli eventi passati, il Big Bang, mantiene un residuo di radiazione percepibile.
Le cose che accadono a grandi distanze da noi ci raggiungono, rendendo visibile ciò che è accaduto in tempi lontani, come succede per le stelle e la loro luce.
Passato e presente coesistono, sia fisicamente che psicologicamente; noi ci relazioniamo con le nostre esperienze passate per affrontare il presente.
Ognuno di noi porta con sé i segni del proprio passato.
La diga, elemento strutturale, preserva e limita l’acqua che contiene.
Il rapporto che lega acqua e diga viene attribuito dall’effetto che la diga ha sulla massa d’acqua.
Volevo invece mettere in evidenza il rapporto dell’acqua verso la diga, quello che essa poteva regalare alla struttura artificiale, il punto d’incontro.
Il sole, elemento neutro che illumina tutto indiscriminatamente, veniva però assorbito con effetti diversi da acqua e diga.
La diga assorbe la luce come fa un muro, mentre l’acqua come una lente amplifica l’onda luminosa, restituendo e riflettendo la luce alla superficie vicina, proiettando le rifrangenze delle sue increspature sul muro della diga, proprio appena sopra la “linea d’acqua”.
Calore e luce vengono emanati in una forma che unisce onda liquida e luminosa, donando alla struttura di cemento un’estetica che in quel momento supera l’elemento da dove si origina l’irradiazione: il bacino idrico.
In quel momento l’acqua e il suo riflesso coesistono, unificando presente e futuro.
Vorrei restituire l’effetto di richiamo verso il futuro dell’elemento che oggi non è più presente nella forma che più stupiva ed emozionava nella visione.

Installazione site specific:
6 vasche di plexiglass orientabili contenenti acqua, rialzate da terra per mezzo di una struttura composta da tubi innocenti posta alla base del versante Friulano. all’estremità delle vasche verra posizionato una lastra a specchio orientabile per gestire l’effetto luminoso riflettente dell’acqua colpita dal sole.
Le vasche serviranno anche come lente per amplificare l’effetto luminoso mentre in loco si potrà gestire l’altezza della riflessione e mascherare con criteri da parco luci la fonte naturale del sole senza intaccare la struttura della diga.
